Assam, Indien.

Unspeakable
“When winged beings sail down from space to earth, it can really only be elephants. And if they land in the trees with their unspeakably heavy weight and break whole branches, then perhaps they have sprung from the hands of Brahma. Tradition leaves open what the god actually intended to do with these monstrous, mischievous creatures…” read on

The Trench was filled so that the elephants can cross
The presence of my camera team in Assam has shown affect and brought a change few days later: The deep trench that a tea plantation owner in Golaghat Abhoijan Tea Estate had digged around his plantation in order to keep the elephants out has been too difficult to be crossed by the elephants. The trench has been filled yesterday (Dec 2, 2023). The elephants can travel safely across again.

webinar on ‘Ecocriticism: Theory and Praxis
This webinar seeks to address the major ecocritical concerns that inform contemporary academic discourses as well as the issues relating to environmental activism which dwell at the level of practice. We feel compelled to decide on this particular theme for the webinar as we feel that our ecological illiteracy and the absence of an ethical commitment to the environment have contributed much to the plight that we have experienced in recent times.
